Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls,

Many months ago we sat down to draw up a top twenty of our
favourite songs from film and stage. We soon whittled our
favourites down to a hundred or so, but then began the hard
work. Just how do you come up with a final selection? There are
so many greats out there and we all have our favourites. So, here
we are with our choice, which we hope you will enjoy and tap
your feet along to.

During the Summer, both children and adults in our community
have worked very hard to put on a wonderful show for you
tonight.
It has been our very great pleasure to share these times with the
cast and to watch the show develop into what you are about to
experience.

But this show is not just about the cast. Behind the scenes, many
people have worked tirelessly. As you will see from the running
order, each song has been led by a scene leader, each of whom
has had their fair share of sleepless nights bringing these songs to
you. Let’s also not forget the dozens of people in the production
team, unsung heroes, without whom we would not be sitting here
tonight.

But let’s not get too serious about this. After all, “it’s just a
bunch of songs on a stage”. That, at least, is what we have been
telling ourselves all summer in a bid to keep ourselves sane. The
truth though is that we love every one of these songs and we are
hugely proud of the talent, energy and commitment of everyone
engaged in this show. By the end of this evening we are sure you
will agree.

So sit back, turn off your mobile phones, relax and enjoy our
“bunch of songs on a stage”.

Thank You.
